Miike Snow - Animal (Mark Ronson Remix)

Just when you wonder what retro hat Ronson will pull a rabbit out of next, he goes and gives one of the year's biggest jams a dub reggae treatment, and it sounds fantastic.

Pase Rock - Live At Home

Pase Rock just posted a new mix over at Fully Fitted, his very own "Live at Home". Check out the tracklist and download below after a word from the man himself:

"wazzzaaap. I haven't posted on this thing in ages. So this afternoon I did a Live At Home mix. just fartin around on the turntables procrastinating on cleaning up the crib. These are some of my favorite jams. I let the songs play out and some of the mixes are sloppy and one of my serato records had a scratch in it so it was skipping on some songs but that's all in the spirit of Live at Home right? I reaaaaalllly wanted to go in on the early 90's R&B but I spared you after a few choice cuts... oh yeah and there's some new Pase exclusive world premiere jams on there... actually just one from me, and then some other randomness... bump it late night, early in the morning... in your hooptie or your big body Benz. It's all to the good."

1. Nina Simone - Baltimore
2. Gregory Isaacs - If I Don't Have You
3. Res - 700 Mile Situation
4. Paul Simon - Diamonds On The Soles Of Her Shoes (unreleased version)

Diplo Interviews David Rodigan

Diplo and co. were on this side of the Atlantic recently and apparently they managed to find time to interview reggae DJ legend, David Rodigan for the Mad Decent podcast. Although it's surreal to hear Diplo conduct the interview in a BBC Radio 4/NPR style, for fans of Mad Decent and classic dancehall alike it's an interesting listen.

Rodigan explains how he came to be one of the most famous reggae djs in the world after starting as a humble record collector when all he cared about was ‘football, girls and music’, before going on to explain some of reggae's history from a DJ perspective. The show is rounded out by a fine selection of Rodigan's famous dubplates making it just about the best Mad Decent podcast ever.

Major Lazer - Hold the Line ft. Santigold and Mr. Lexx (Nacey Remix)

major_lazer_drawing

One of our favourite reworkings of the lead single from Diplo and Switch's Major Lazer project, currently out on Mad Decent. Nice 808s, snaps and synths from Nacey that fit the vocals at least as well as the original. Also, check out his remix of Rye Rye's "Bang".

Diplo vs Santogold

toprankingsantidiplo

The new Diplo mixtape is out. It's kind of a follow up to the MIA mix from a few years back but this time it's with Philadelphia's Santogold. The sound has migrated somewhat from the more bombastic Piracy Funds Terrorism to something altogether more smokey. Funk, dub reggae and 80s Hip Hop breaks crossed with contemporary rap vocals and lo-fi electro mixed with a soundsystem sensibility, all tailored around beats and vocals from Santogold's debut album. A thoroughly good mix - peep the self-effacing skit from Mark Ronson.
