Nite Jewel

Been meaning to post some Nite Jewel for a couple of months now. The Los Angeles resident is currently raising eyebrows around internet land with her latest 7" single, "Weak For Me" on 1984 Records, which apparently Stone's Throw is partly involved with (we've posted a snippet below). Her sound is a slow, dusty, lo-fi cross of Dream Pop, 80s R&B, Sade and James Pants, with blissfully gritty results.

Beautiful Music 4 Beautiful People

Dam-Funk recorded this all vinyl mix for LA style gurus Clae and it's a fun listen, travelling through the cosmic dimensions of electro-funk, 80s RnB and (what most people are calling) boogie. If you're a beautiful person and drum machines and power synths are your thing then this mix has been tailored especially for you, so try it on for size.

Brand New Second Hand

Not a Roots Manuva post as you could probably tell from Bobby below, this is more of a charity shopping thing. Been hitting up Bradford's finest second-hand record vendors again recently and been pleasantly surprised with the pickings. Seems as though the glut of 60s and 70s pop, easy listening and classical I used to have to trudge through is slowly giving way to disco, new wave, house, r'n'b and finally, hip hop. I'll keep the blog updated with some of the choice second hand purchases. Below are a few from this week.
