Nite Jewel

Been meaning to post some Nite Jewel for a couple of months now. The Los Angeles resident is currently raising eyebrows around internet land with her latest 7" single, "Weak For Me" on 1984 Records, which apparently Stone's Throw is partly involved with (we've posted a snippet below). Her sound is a slow, dusty, lo-fi cross of Dream Pop, 80s R&B, Sade and James Pants, with blissfully gritty results.

Really digging this half speed disco/electro jammer from Toronto's Hero. Apparently it's an oddly titled tribute of sorts to Michael Jackson. Big piano, big drums and a bit of just-so distortion - a fitting memorial(?).

The rather excellent Curb Crawlers just started a new mix series and to kick things off have enlisted the considerable talents of Ultragamma, a Canadian up and comer in the LA-centred lazy-step scene (we don't know what to call it, limp hop?, trip hop '010?).
